Dear Family in Christ,

For Advent this year we are providing you with a Jesse Tree curriculum produced by Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Click on the image above to download your copy. You will also need a Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, let me know and I will get one to you.

The Jesse Tree is an Advent tradition that teaches about Jesus’ family tree, all the way back to the beginning in Genesis. You start by creating a “tree” — children can re-use the tree from their Thanksgiving mailing, or you can use a real branch from a tree, a mini tree from a craft store, a string hung on the wall, even a tree drawn on a piece of paper. When you color and cut out the ornaments that go with the story for each day, hang them on your tree.

These Jesse Tree lessons are flexible so you can use them as fits your family’s life. The plan provides four activities plus a prayer for each day: Listen, Reflect, Do, and Sing. You don’t have to do all of them every day. Decide what works for you.

Use the lessons daily with the written lessons and videos, or weekly with the videos. Videos highlight one day of the week, and coordinate with the written lessons. Links to the videos appear below.

Please begin by watching the introductory video first. That will give you an overview of what the Jesse Tree is all about. And please share pictures of your trees! I would love to see your creativity.

In joyful anticipation,
Pastor Megan
